Why we selected it
Chosen for its atmosphere — a crime film composed almost entirely of mood, light and silence.
Synopsis
He has no name, few words and a strict set of rules for the jobs he takes at night. When he grows close to Irene and her young son, a favour for her newly released husband draws him into a heist that goes wrong. Nicolas Winding Refn films Los Angeles as a neon reverie, then lets sudden violence break through the calm.
